Introducing the PKMCS series of SMD piezoelectric sounders from Murata

Murata has developed the PKMCS series of very small and lightweight SMD piezoelectric sounders that suit the thin, high-density design of electronic equipment. The PKMCS sounder is housed in a compact 9x9mm package with a profile of only 1.9mm allowing it to be integrated in applications where PCB space is at a premium.

The PKMCS takes advantage of Murata's extensive acoustic and mechanical design technology and high performance ceramics. With an output frequency of 4Khz and sound pressure level (SPL) of 65dB minimum at 10cm, the sounders offer exceptional performance for their size.

The PKMCS sounders are driven via an external drive circuit with a maximum input voltage of 12.5Vo-p and operating temperature range is -40ºC to +85ºC.

Recommended drive circuit examples

The sounders are compatible with Reflow solder processes and are supplied on Tape and Reel packaging.

Due to the PKMCS sounders low power requirement, high performance and compact size they can be used in a wide variety of applications including Medical devices, eHealth, Sensors, Portable equipment, Industrial devices and wall or remote mounted smart devices.
