Date Published : 02/01/2005 Share with:

The PLPC series light pipe from Bivar feature a countersunk flush mount design for smooth panel appearance and are ideal for applications where indication or backlighting is required on a panel, but it is not convenient to mount the PCB containing the light source near to the panel, the light pipe guides the light to the correct position on the front panel.

Panel-press fit light pipes are used to efficiently transfer light from an LED to a user interface panel. They press securely into the panel and hover as close to the SMD LED without touching the LED. The most common application for panel-press fit light pipes is to communicate device status to an end user. Bivar offers light pipes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and functional properties.

The PLPC series is one of Bivar’s most popular press fit ranges, offering a versatile light pipe in clear or tinted colour finishes of blue, green, red and yellow. The PLPC series is offered in various lengths from .100 in. (2.5mm) to .500 in. (12.7mm) imperial lengths and 3mm (.118”) to 10mm (.394”) metric lengths, and panel hole sizes of 1mm, 2mm and 3mm.

The PLPC series light pipes press fit into the panel making them convenient and easy to install, click on the press fit installation video guide from Bivar below to see how easy they are to install.

The PLPC Light Pipes are constructed from Polycarbonate material rated UL94V-0 for flammability resistance and feature an operating temperature range from -40 °C to +125 °C.
