NICHICON Develops PCH Series of 135°C Conductive Polymer Aluminium Solid Electrolytic Capacitors, samples available from Anglia

Date Published : 21/11/2019 Share with:

NICHICON CORPORATION has developed the PCH Series of chip-type conductive polymer aluminium solid electrolytic capacitors for automotive applications and industrial equipment which require high degrees of reliability. The PCH Series maintains various characteristics including capacitance and E.S.R. while achieving the highest category temperature of 135°C for a conductive polymer aluminium solid electrolytic capacitor.

Due to the high electrical conductivity and heat resistance characteristics of conductive polymer electrolytes the PCH capacitors have superior E.S.R. characteristics at high frequencies, wide temperature ranges, high reliability and excellent resistance to ripple currents. NICHICON have optimised the design and materials of the conductive polymer and sealing rubber used on the PCH Series allowing these capacitors to have a 135°C maximum operating temperature. The highest in the industry.

The PCH Series of high temperature chip-type conductive polymer aluminium solid electrolytic capacitors were originally designed to meet the stringent requirements of automotive on-board electronics field where miniaturisation and space saving requires products that are also compatible with high heat resistance and high allowable ripple currents. The robust nature of the PCH series design means they are also particularly well suited to industrial applications which share many of the same requirements.

The PCH series further advances the high heat resistance technology of conductive polymer aluminium solid electrolytic capacitors by optimizing the conductive polymer formation method, material composition and material design allowing the PCH series to maintain its capacitance value and low E.S.R even under the highest operating temperature conditions. As a result, the PCH series allows designers to develop products that can operate at higher temperatures whilst enabling them to minimise the PCB real estate ultimately leading to a reduction in production costs.

The PCH series are available in voltages from 25V to 63 VDC and rated capacitances from 22uF to 470uF, the series has an operating temperature range from -55°C to +135°C. The specified life of the PCH series is 4000 hours at full rated temperature of 135°C and they are supplied in Surface Mount chip sizes from 8 to 10mm diameter with chip heights from 7 to 12.7mm.
