Harwin’s award winning Gecko connector system (G125 series) provides a low profile, dual row cable-to-board and board-to-board interconnect solution, ideally suited for stacking and cable mating in areas where PCB real estate is at a premium.
With space and weight a consideration for many high-reliability applications, the Gecko G125 connectors are designed to offer high performance in a miniature package. With a pin spacing of 1.25mm with up to 50 contacts per connector, the Gecko G125 series offers dense pin counts in a small package. This design means that Gecko G125 connectors achieve a 35% space saving over other high-performance connectors such as Micro-D. The connectors also have a high current handling capability of up to 2A per contact.
The Gecko G125 series range currently covers 06, 10, 12, 16, 20, 26, 34 & 50 number of contacts in a dual row configuration, connector housings are polarised to prevent mis-matching and have contact position one indicated on the outside of the housings.
The connectors are fully shrouded, unsealed connectors for interconnecting cable-to-board and board-to-board, available in through hole and SMD mounting options and versions are available with crimp contacts. Ready-made cable assemblies and pre-crimped contacts can also be accommodated.
The male connectors can be equipped with locking latches for secure interconnection with easy to release features allowing them to be used in environments where vibration may be an issue. Latches can be specified with through board locking features or surface mount pads for additional security. The housings also feature a low profile potting wall to allow back potting for additional strain relief and improved sealing where required. All contacts are gold plated all over for high performance and long service life, the contact plating is hard acid gold of 98% purity.
The Gecko G125 series has been designed, tested and proven to allow for high performance in extreme conditions, the Gecko G125 family can operate over a wide temperature range from -65°C to +150ºC and under extreme vibration (Z axis 100g 6ms). These high performance specifications are made possible by Harwin’s four-finger, patent pending, Copper Alloy Contact.
The Gecko G125 connectors are designed and manufactured to achieve high numbers of mating cycles but also feature low insertion and extraction forces. Mouldings are manufactured from Halogen & Red Phosphorus free, glass-filled thermoplastic, an environmentally friendly material that has eliminated harmful chemicals before they have been added to restricted substances lists. The moulds also feature positive keying that prevent mis-mating and are available with or without latches fitted for extra security of connection.
The Gecko G125 connectors are ideal for applications which require high reliability connections such as Military, Aerospace, Oil & Gas exploration, Medical equipment, Robotic systems and UAVs.
